1. Poetry is a human creation to express feelings and message to another person which using tone, rhythm, and gestures. 

2. There are several genres of English Poetry a. Narrative Poetry Narrative poetry is poetry which tell about something that come from inside the humsn such as feelings, experiences, and oipnion. This genre includes ballad, epic, metrical tale, and metrical romance. 

Ballad is a simple narrative poem that tells about emotion that felt by someone. 

Here an example of ballad 

 

Happy Halloween 

 

I'd rather be foolish than ghoulish. 

I'd rather dress up as a clown: 

I'd rather wear clothes with polka dot bows. 

I'd much rather smile than frown. 

 

I'd rather be kkoky than spooky. 

I'd rather be frienly than mean: 

I'd rather go greeting than tricking, and treating. 

I'd rathen have fun than halloween!

Lyric poetry is poetry that created to be sung and originally accompanied with musical instrument like lyre. Lyric poetry incudes elegy, haiku, ode, and sonnet.

Elegy is lyric poem that cointain about life and death.

My Dad is Special

My Dad is special. My dad is many things to many for many reason. My heart holds 

a special place filled with memories  of dad and me. After all what is more special 

than daddies little girl? My dad took time from his busy day filled with work  and bills

 to raise me the little girl that was now  his at the ages  of eight I Now his days at times

 with little girl things and tantrums too for reason; I'm sure he didn't quite understand. 

Dad just went with the flow and loved me any iold way!  My Dad did special things 

and took me places. He listened to me whine and cry about things too. He always told me

 it's alright  to cry and things always work out. My dad put up with me  bringing several 

big dogs home from the pound. He did what a special dad would do, gave them a home too! 

I often brought home a stray of some kind and he always found  room for it. My dad even found

 a baby aligator in the shower once: but it had to go, after all he did have limit! 

My dad was there to support my dreams and tell me I caould do anything I wanted to. 

He told me how smart I was. When I played piano at times I know now how bad it must have sounded

 but he told me how good I played. That's becase my dad loved me so much.Looking back, 

I would not change a thing about my dad. He's the best and I love him with all my heart!

 To my dad this poem says, " Thank you for raising, cariying for, and loving me."

3. Indonesian poetry can divide into several genres. In this siction we divided into four genres, puisi lama, puisi baru, puisi modern dan puisi kontemporer.

Puisi lama  merupakan puisi yang masih menggambarkan keadaan suatu masyarakat, puisis ini banyak dipengaruhi oleh sastra bangsa-bangsa seperti Arab, Persia, India, dan masih sangat ketat dalam aturan pembuatannya. puisi lama diantaranya Mantra, gurindam, syair dan pantun.

Kalau ada jarum patah

Jangan dimasukkan ke dalam peti  

Kalau ada kataku yang salah

Jangan dimasukan ke dalam hati

 

Puisi baru merupakan puisi yang muncul dan sifatnya sangat berbeda bahkan berlawanan dengan sifat puisi lama. puisi baru diantaranya distikon, terzina, kuatrain, kuint, sektet,septime, dan oktaf/stanza.

Awan datang melayang perlahan

Puisi Modern merupakan puisi yang muncul pada masa penjajahan Jepang di Indonesia dan digunakan oleh para sastrawan untuk melawan penjajahan pada masa itu.

DERAI-DERAI CEMARA

Cemara menderai sampai jauh,

Terasa hari akan jadi malam,

Ada beberapa dahan di tingkap merapuh,

dipukul angin yang terpedam

 

aku sekarang orangnya bisa tahan,

sudah berapa waktu bukan kanak lagi,

tapi dulu memang ada suatu bahan

yang bukan dasar perhitungan kini

 

hidup hanya menunda kekalahan

tambah terasing dari cinta sekolah rendah

sebelum pada akhirnya kita menyerah

Puisi kontemporer merupakan puisi yang muncul pada tahun 1970-an sampai sekarang, berisi tentang kebenaran yang perlu disampaikan pada khalayak ramai menjadi poin utama dalam penciptaannya.
